Project Overview
A fast-growing technology company occupying a 3,000sqm office campus required a modern surveillance system to protect employees, equipment, and intellectual property. The existing analogue system was outdated and provided grainy footage that was useless for incident investigation.
The client specifically requested 4K resolution throughout, cloud-based remote access for the security team, and integration with their existing badge access control system.
Key Challenges
The open-plan office layout with glass-walled meeting rooms required careful camera placement to maximise coverage while respecting employee privacy. The IT department mandated that all surveillance traffic be isolated on a separate VLAN to prevent interference with business operations.
The project had to be completed over a single weekend to avoid disrupting the 200 employees who worked on-site daily. Our team of eight technicians worked in two shifts to install and configure all 24 cameras within the 48-hour window.
Products Used
Sixteen Amcrest UltraHD 8MP IP cameras were installed in open-plan areas, server rooms, and entry points. Eight compact Hikvision 4MP turret cameras covered corridors and break rooms. All cameras were connected via Ubiquiti UniFi switches with a dedicated PoE budget of 250W.
A 16-channel NVR with 16TB storage was deployed in the server room, configured for continuous recording with 60-day retention. Remote access was set up via the manufacturer's cloud platform with multi-factor authentication for the security team.
Final Outcome
The system went live on Monday morning with zero issues. The security team now has crystal-clear 4K footage from any location with smartphone access. Two weeks after installation, the system helped identify an individual who had stolen a laptop from an unlocked desk.
The client was so impressed with the image quality that they expanded the system by an additional eight cameras within three months. The IT department praised the network isolation implementation and reported zero impact on business systems.
